It all started back in 1979 when I was asked by a school friend to form a band, I was supposed to be the vocalist in that band. The band name initially was “Roundabout” later on we changed that to: “Black Sheep”, we were very into Deep Purple and Rainbow.
After a few months we decided that I’d better stopped being the singer, which was a wise decision… That’s where the bass guitar came into my life …..
This band split up in 1981.
In that same year I was asked to join a band called “Rising”, it was a hard-rock band also playing Deep Purple and Rainbow like songs, with this band I recorded my first 2 tracks counting demo. This band unfortunately split up in 1982.
Late 1982 I joined the band “The Ages” which was a prog-hard-rock band, this band never got complete so in 1984 this band stopped existing.
A band called “Dealen” was the next stop for me, it was a hard-rocking band. In 1986 I left this band to form my own band “Y-Road”, a progressive pop/rock band we did a series of great gig’s until the break up in 1989.
In 1988 the rock-cover band “Reza” needed a bass player, with that band which broke up in 1992 we did lots of great gig’s.
When in 1990 the rock/funk band “Area” asked me to play the bass, a demo of 4 tracks was recorded and with some nice gig’s all over the country the band had some true fan base.
I left this band in 1993 to join a project called “Catch 22”, this band unfortunately did not got complete so a half a year later the band broke up.
Also in 1990 I joined “de Anoushka Sessieband” later changed the name to “Anoushka BIG sessieband” for It became rather big (up to approx. 25 persons at that time). I left this band in 1994 to form a new band with some real great musicians we named that band “LifeLine” unfortunately this band existed only for about a year.
After “LifeLine” I joined with the hard-rock band “RAW”, a band with a fanatic fan base. We did some awesome gig’s all around the Netherlands. In 1996 this band broke up after some unexpected changes in line-up.
Than early 1997 I was asked to play bassguitar for the professional Blues rock band “Jan Rijbroekband” (“JR-band”), we did a European tour which really was awesome.
Later that year I joined the hard rock band “A.J.Mharyo” we won quite a few 1st prices among one price for recording a CD, in 1999 the mini-album “Fool for a minute” was released, which was reviewed very positively! This band also developed a rather serious fanbase.I left this band in 2001.
In that same time span I played with “ZOAB” a rock funk band, which was also received very good.
We recorded and released a demo CD in 1999.
From 2001 till 2004 I played with some rock cover bands all over the country, until in 2004 the band “Stolen Dream” a sferic gothic progressive rock band was formed, this band was active / in-active till 2006, we recorded a Demo CD in 2004.
In the autumn of 2004 I was asked to join the rock coverband “de RockenJagers” in 2005 we recorded our live CD “Spelen met vuur”. Until the break up in 2010 we did loads of gigs all over the Netherlands … and beyond ...
April 2008 I joined the remains of “Plackband” to form “PBII” a prog rock band, we released our well received album “Plastic soup” in 2010, in 2011 I decided to quit this band. In that same year the live DVD of our CD release gig in early 2010 “PBII@boerderij.org” was released.
In November 2011 after some 2 years, rock coverband "de RockenJagers" decided to re-unite.
And starting december 2011 i joined the rock band "The Lizzer".
This is just a brief listing of the bands I played with for a serious length of time, there is a great number of bands I played with for a short period of time, loads of projects, substitution gigs, CD recordings (click here for an overview)and accompaniment jobs.
From '91 till '98 i teached bassguitar, first at home, later at a local music-school.
In June '07 i became a student bass guitar myself, studying with the educated and skilled teacher Olaf Meijer ... due to a busy schedule i stopped studying with Olaf in Sept. 2010.
You can always contact me for substitutional jobs or projects, just send me an e-mail.
